With the shelves overhead I can't center a candle against the wall, as I've always done, and I need something to fill that space and anchor the altar. The granite slab was quarried locally to my home town and is an offcut from the monument company, also in my home town. I thought it suggested a tombstone, appropriate here. Gazing spheres are fused quartz, yellow calcite, and blue goldstone on the left. Carved stone candle cups on the front corners--the owls' eyes on the cup, as well as the large owl lamp, light up when the candles are lit--and the square stone box holds sea salt. The bright orange glittered Halloween cloth from last Samhain didn't please me, so I found a fabric that better suits my mood this year. There's orange in the candy corn and pumpkins, though, signifying harvest and stored plenty through the winter. Photo of honored dead, with Anubis escort, and ashes in the nautilus matchsafe, under the stag tile candleholder. Salt lamps anchor the back corners, one electrified, one candle-lit. Besom made from an apple branch and lemon basil twigs. Antique black cat match-holder for incense sticks, bark-on carved wood chalice, thrifted iron cauldron, and a scrying bowl for water. You can click pictures to enlarge for detail.

...yay, and thanks for posting...I still am unable to photograph altars, but one of these days, when we imaginarily/as-planned move to a new house (could be within the month), I'll come up with something good...!

I love your altar. I really appreciate the eyes of the owl the most. That's just eerie and awesome!
