Oct. 16th, 2011 02:15 pmI asked for input a few days ago. This is what we started with.
This is what I have now.
A surprising amount of supplies, neatly contained.
The altar set for Samhain.
Left to right: Owl candle lamp, carved stone jar of salt, antique black cat match holder used to hold stick incense. Blue goldstone and yellow calcite gazing spheres, iron cauldron of candy corn, twig besom. Center: Feminine figure, Circle of cats candle lamp. Left: skull cup with candy corn, three-footed scrying bowl for water, pillar stand with stag tile, and stag pennanular brooch, honored dead with compass and Anubis.
I went with the cheesetastic Halloween altar cloth, complete with woven-in glitter. Corn and pumpkins symbolize plenty through the winter--even if these are candy. The dying stag provides over winter, and makes way for rebirth in the spring. Scrying bowl to open up to the year's possibilities, honoring the dead for All Hallows.
